The trial resumed with the testimony of the an unidentified witness who explained that the discrepancies in his testimony were due to his security concerns: “If they are interviewed by a white person and heard on the radio they could be killed,” he told the Court.

On Wednesday Judge Elizabeth Odio Benito asked the witness to clarify statements about the girl child soldiers and pregnancies, specifically if he had seen a 14-year old girl die after an abortion. The witness responded, “Yes. She had an abortion and afterwards she had complications. Then she died.”

Thursday, a former child soldier testified that he was beaten and whipped as punishments by his commander in the UPC. The trial closed on Friday with the defense questioning a former child soldier witness on details he provided about being a solider in the UPC.

The trial resumes Monday.
